You may be aware that The Scottish Government has announced indoor sport can return from Monday 31 August. We’re looking forward to the guidance from Badminton Scotland about how we can play badminton again safely. We will ensure we follow every guideline, maintaining social distancing and good hygiene practices at all times.
In the meantime, Claire, our League Convenor, has issued an update to all team captains asking them to seek out views and thoughts from club members about the season ahead – including league matches and formats, planned and potential cup matches this season, and the use of club facilities. Please get in touch with your club captain to have a chat about what it means for you and your club, so they can provide feedback to the league committee.
There has been no decision made about this season or the return to play, as everyone will have differing opinions and some may not want to return quite just yet. Another challenge we expect to face will be the use of facilities. We are very grateful to get great facilities from churches within the south side of Glasgow for our social and competitive games, but appreciate they will have other groups and considerations to take on board too. Once all clubs have fed back to Claire, we will then be in a position to decide what we do next, alongside the guidance from Badminton Scotland.
Finally, we are launching a new website for all things Langside. More to follow on that one soon! 🏸
