Thornlee

The Thornlee Tournament is an annual tournament in accordance with the rules of Badminton Scotland. The event takes place every year in April/May, providing competitive badminton matches for club members in the Langside Badminton League. 

Only participating members of Langside League clubs can participate in Thornlee. To find out about joining one of the clubs, visit the clubs page.

Thornlee 2022

Thornlee was last held in 2019, as it was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 2022 Thornlee Tournament is scheduled to take place between Tuesday 26 April and Saturday 14 May 2022. Entries will open in early 2022.

Dates and venues for the qualifiers will be dependent on the number of entries received for each event. We will confirm these as soon as possible, but have been provisionally scheduled as follows:

  • Tuesday 26 April 2022 — Women’s Doubles Qualifiers: Venues TBC
  • Thursday 28 April 2022 — Men’s Doubles Qualifiers: Venues TBC
  • Tuesday 3 May 2022 — Mixed Doubles Qualifiers: Venues TBC
  • Thursday 5 May 2022 — Men’s Singles Qualifiers: Venues TBC
  • Tuesday 10 May 2022 — Women’s Singles Qualifiers: Venues TBC
  • Thursday 12 May 2022 — Balloted Mixed Doubles Qualifiers: Venues TBC
  • Saturday 14 May 2022 — Finals Day: Venue @ Orchardhill Parish Church

The 2022 tournament will see the introduction of a new trophy being presented as part of the event: Player of the Tournament. This will be awarded the the player who has scored the most points during all four of their events.
